IMC is an inclusive and diverse service organization open to all who support tenor-bass choirs.
Since its founding in 1915 as the Intercollegiate Musical Council, IMC: The Tenor-Bass Choral Consortium, has striven to promote quality tenor-bass chorus singing and music. Its membership is made up of Tenor-Bass Choruses/Glee Clubs of the nation's universities, colleges, and secondary schools. Membership is also open to community and professional ensembles, as well as to individuals.
Through its publication QUODLIBET, and through its biennial National Seminar held on a member campus, IMC provides a wealth of information pertinent to conductors of tenor-bass choruses. National Seminars include performances, reading sessions, interest sessions and sessions geared toward the student conductor. The IMC National Seminar is held during even-numbered years to avoid conflicts with ACDA national conferences.
Because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are once again postponing the National Seminar. The Seminar will now be held March 16-18, 2023 at Albion College. We hope to have most of the same performing groups and clinicians as were originally scheduled. Cantus will perform as part of the Seminar. Stay tuned for more details as they develop!
Albion will be a good place for the event - the 1200-seat chapel has a large stage and room for all of us. There's easy access to the Detroit airport, and a newly built Courtyard Marriott right in town will be our headquarters hotel. Interest sessions, reading sessions -- more TTBB choral repertoire in two days that you would get in many years of attending other choral conferences.
